What is Gardening Therapy?

This is the use of plants to help people. It may be used to help someone physically recover from and illness or accident, help a person with a disability develop social or vocational skills or offer a chance for a person to be included and socialize. 


What is a Horticultural Therapist?

This is a designation a person earns after a combination of college classes as part of or post Baccalaureate program and a number of hours as an intern while being supervised by a Registered HTR. This designation is granted by the American Horticultural Therapy Association (learn more here)


What areas of focus do you specialize in?

I have spent the last 6 years as a Master Gardener co-Leading a team that works specifically with high school students with special needs. Additionally I have taught at a high school for students with special needs since April of 2018.

How are you qualified to do this?

I graduated from Rutgers University School of Environmental and Biological Sciences Summa cum Laude in 2019 with a Bachelors of Science degree in Plant Science, with a Specialization in Horticultural Therapy. I also minored in Psychology with a focus on Childhood and Adolescent development. Additionally I took multiple classes in Special Education. I am currently working through my Internship for the AHTA.
